Savamese language
From Eshralopedia
Savamese (Savamais) is a language of the Ascesian family, the official language of Savam and co-official language in Beyartepa, Gesmaquillion and Ibothia. It is closely related to Acratanian, Armandian and Dalmarian, all of them part of the Tano-Dordanic family and descents of Ascesian (and not Nalit while often assumed which is only a modernized form of Ascesian). Savamese and Acratanian were mostly identical until the 17th century when they started to diverge because of cultural influences (Modern Armandian is considered as a descent or dialect of Acratanian). Some scholars consider them to be dialects of a same language when others rather claim they are now fully separate languages and will continue to diverge in the future. Speakers from the two languages are still intelligible to each others.
Savamese has the particularity of having went through a codified standardization during the 18th and 19th centuries and is often regarded as a difficult language to learn for non-native speakers because of its complex grammar. Most surprisingly compared with the general political mindsets in Savam and Acratania, Savamese is considered as much more conservative than Acratanian.
About 70 to 90 million people worldwide are estimated to be native speakers of Savamese, most of them in Eastern Ascesia.
